The Hands-On Language Program
Experiential immersion opportunities for all ages
to learn world languages
Welcome to The Hands-On Language Program, a program that teaches languages by doing. Our French classes in the Burlington, Vermont area include private lessons, small group courses, holiday camps, and workshops. We also offer foreign language consulting and language trips to France! All our classes are hands-on, experiential, activity based, and in full French immersion.
At The Hands-On Language Program, we consider that languages are tools. Our founder once said:
"You wouldn't learn how to use a hammer by studying all the parts of the hammer and all the hand moves you might need to make. You'd learn to use the hammer, well, simply by using the hammer! You'd grab it and start putting nails everywhere, start building things with it! Learning how to speak a language is done exactly the same way."
So at The Hands-On Language Program, we teach languages by using them. Our main class is currently French through cooking: we use the language in an immersion environment, while cooking. Even though students are really learning French, the focus appears to be on cooking, something real that they can do with the language. The class is highly efficient for all levels, including very beginners.
There are endless possibilities of immersion, practical classes The Hands-On Language Program can put together, from game groups to sustainability clubs, from storytelling/skits groups to arts and crafts classes. Let us know your kids' interests!

LAST PRIVATE CLASSES: in August! Explore our website to see what fits you.
We're leaving Burlington and evolving to offer only occasional camps for schools and other organizations, and consulting services. After August, we will no longer offer live classes in Vermont, unless invited to do so from abroad. If you would like your children to take our classes, ask their school if they can invite our lead teacher to teach a camp.
Baptiste Delvallé, our lead teacher, remains available to teach academic camps, seminars, courses, and conferences at your school, business or instituation, all over the world, especially in the summer. Contact us for a quote.
Our consulting services, for a variety of organizations and for families, remain available online.
